Pedro Lara Almuedo
Programme Officer – United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)
Pedro Lara Almuedo is a Land Use and Climate Change Officer with the Global Mechanism of the UNCCD. He is a Forest Engineer (B.Sc.F.E., University of Cordoba, Spain), and holds a Master of Forest Conservation (MFC, University of Toronto, Canada).
Pedro has over 13 years working at the UNCCD secretariat and the Global Mechanism. For the last 7 years as the team lead of the Land Degradation Neutrality Target Setting Programme supporting 131 participating countries. Prior to working at the UNCCD, he worked for the Regional Government of Andalusia (Spain) supporting climate change policies and action plans and the sustainable management and conservation of protected areas. He also coordinated the Research and Extension Programme on Ecosystem Management and Conservation Biology of British Columbia (Canada).
