Marxan Planning Platform (MaPP)

What is it?

The Marxan Planning Platform (MaPP) is a cloud-hosted version of the decision-support tool Marxan, the most widely used spatial prioritization software for real-world planning in terrestrial, marine, and freshwater environments. MaPP is an accessible, free and open-source tool that helps planners with the effective allocation of management actions such as biodiversity conservation and sustainable development while supporting online, real-time collaboration and participation through shared projects that allow contributors to co-develop plans in real-time. Through cloud computing, automatic processing of spatial data and established spatial prioritization workflows, the tool streamlines the process of designing, analyzing, and comparing spatial plans that align with national and global priorities for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. MaPP and UNBL are continuing to explore options to link the functionalities of both platforms.
