She co-leads the development and implementation of UNDP&#8217;s work to map essential life support areas for nature, climate change, and sustainable development. Working in English and Spanish, Annie is responsible for liaising with a diverse team of scientists, policymakers, and implementing partners across her portfolio to facilitate delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals. She has worked with the Global Programme on Nature for Development since 2015.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Experiencia y conocimientos previos<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Annie tiene una formaci\u00f3n en Etnobot\u00e1nica, Ciencias de la Conservaci\u00f3n y Comunicaciones. Le inspira conectar la ciencia y la pol\u00edtica para desarrollar enfoques hol\u00edsticos para la conservaci\u00f3n de la naturaleza y el desarrollo sostenible. Tiene una doble Licenciatura en Biolog\u00eda y Cambio Social Local y Global por el Macalester College y una Maestr\u00eda en Biolog\u00eda por el Centro de Postgrado de la CUNY y el Jard\u00edn Bot\u00e1nico de Nueva York. Su trabajo de posgrado reuni\u00f3 la fitoqu\u00edmica, la gen\u00e9tica y la etnobot\u00e1nica para estudiar el uso y el manejo comunitario de los ar\u00e1ndanos neotropicales (queremes) en Colombia. Antes de trabajar en el PNUD, colabor\u00f3 con organizaciones como el Instituto Berkana, la Academia Americana de las Artes y las Ciencias y la Iniciativa sobre Personas y Plantas, explorando las conexiones entre el conocimiento tradicional, el conocimiento cient\u00edfico y el activismo de base para crear un cambio social.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Trabajos recientes\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i>Cartograf\u00eda de las \u00c1reas Esenciales para el Soporte de la Vida  | Liderazgo cient\u00edfico-pol\u00edtico<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Annie co-leads UNDP&#8217;s work to map essential life support areas (ELSAs), where actions to protect, manage, and restore nature can conserve critical biodiversity, mitigate climate change, and provide humans with essential ecosystem services. She coordinates the ELSA science team, and has played a critical role in the development of the project from a single pilot country to over a dozen use cases, with the potential to scale to 100 more.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i>UN Biodiversity Lab | Codirector<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Annie coordinates the <a href=\"https:\/\/unbiodiversitylab.org\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UN Biodiversity Lab<\/a>, a platform that brings together over 400 of the world&#8217;s best spatial datasets on nature, climate change, and sustainable development to enable policymakers and other stakeholders to use spatial data to take action for people and planet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i>Proyecto de integridad de los bosques de la NASA y proyecto Vida en la Tierra | Coordinador del PNUD<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Annie coordinates UNDP&#8217;s engagement in two projects that bring together NASA, and UNDP in order to provide accessible, high-quality spatial data to national policymakers. The project team has worked together since 2016 to develop data on the &#8216;last of the best&#8217; tropical forests, human pressure, and water provision as well as to validate this data with countries for use in their reports to the Convention on Biological Diversity and on Sustainable Development Goal 15.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i>Iniciativa Ecuatorial | Responsable de casos<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Annie dirigi\u00f3 el desarrollo de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equatorinitiative.org\/knowledge-center\/e-library\/case-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">serie de estudios de caso de la Iniciativa Ecuatorial<\/a> de 2016 a 2020, trabajando con un equipo de escritores, editores, dise\u00f1adores y los ganadores del Premio Ecuatorial del PNUD.
